I am SO excited that today is Christmas Eve!!
My office closes at 2pm today and I can't wait!
Tonight we'll go to our church for the children's service and then to my mother's house for dinner with my whole family.
My aunt arrived on the 16th to celebrate with us and we're just so excited that she's here. My sister will be there too.
After dinner the children take turns reading Twas The Night Before Christmas and my mom gives them one gift to open. We head home, leave cookies and milk for Santa and I get all excited tracking Santa on the Norad site.
Once the children are in bed, Ian and I will sit in the dark looking at the lit Christmas tree. Then I usually cry because I love Christmas Eve so much. We exchange one gift as we have for the last 17 years then hit the sack.
Apparently we're getting up at 6am tomorrow morning to open our gifts. Sweet mercy! I think we'll head over to my Mom's for 9am, open gifts there then have the best breakfast ever. Can't wait!
Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Aw, your Christmas Eve sounds delightful! Many hugs to you and yours today and tomorrow! We make the emphasis of Christmas gift exchanging on gifts from one another instead of from Santa, so we open our under-the-tree presents today and find that Santa leaves small things in stockings on Christmas morning! I love the Christmas Vigil Mass at night, but it's far too late for the kids so we're going to the Children's service today, too and having our big dinner (big = not huge this year) tomorrow. I love Christmas Eve as much as Christmas Day - and especially being pregnant! Merry Christmas, my dear friend!
ReplyDeleteWow...I love all of the extended family traditions you have. So sweet. We used to get together with the extended family, but haven't done it in years. My favorite part of this post is you and Ian exchanging gifts alone on Christmas Eve...I think we might steal that idea from you. So intimate...I love it. I hope you have the best Christmas ever!!! Abby
ReplyDeleteOooooh, what do you have for breakfast?????
ReplyDeleteIt's all go, go, go for us! Get up, unwrap presents, go to my mom's, unwrap some more, extended family arrives there, unwrap some more...then home to tuck the kids in and my handsome groom and I have our annual Christmas Eve date at our church's midnight mass (really at midnight!)!
I love it. I love that mass sooooooo much!
I hope you are having a WONDERFUL Christmas...I miss talking with you!
