I've seen a couple of episodes of this show over the years, and almost always tuned into the finale to see the drastic weight losses, always with a jealous heart.
Tonight was the two hour season premiere. I set our PVR to tape it, figuring I would watch it tomorrow sometime. When I told the children it was going to be starting, they both got so excited and wanted to watch it together tonight. So, at 8:00pm sharp, Ian, the children and I settled in to watch.
Oh my heart.
The stories of the contestants. Their weights. Their comments... So many of them spoke the thoughts I have had my entire life.
I was crying two minutes into it.
Twenty minutes into it, Ian headed over to Chapters to buy me The Biggest Loser 30-Day Jumpstart DVD because I said I would like to try it. His support is unending. It blows my mind.
What a great show. I feel very motivated to keep going. One day at a time.
~*~ HERE COMES THE SMALL SPOILER ALERT!! ~*~
Sam made me laugh at one point during the show. We were all feeling so sad for the blue and yellow teams being sent home when all of a sudden we saw legs jumping out of the bushes that belonged to Bob and Jillian. At the commercial Sam said "I thought they were ninjas jumping out to kill them or something!"
Julie and I said at the same time: REALLY SAM!? REALLY???
I need to buy weights tomorrow. I've been using two cans of soup but I ate one of them today so now I'm out of luck.
I put off doing day 2 of the shred until just before the children were due home from school. It was sad, friends. My knees and shoulders are so sore from yesterday that I couldn't do much. I did what I could, rested when I needed to and tried more of the exercises.
Overall I feel my body loosening up a bit which is nice and I have more energy. I'm drinking a ton of water and I've cut out all snacking completely. My innards feel cleaner. Two days in, friends. Two days.
Julie tried the DVD when she came home from school (after playing outside for about an hour) and did the entire thing - advanced level - and I don't think she even broke a sweat. Jordan wanted to do what Julie was doing and I did take a couple of pics that I'll post sometime soon.
Tomorrow I'm going to visit my mom. I haven't seen her since Saturday and I'm missing her big time.
Did you watch The Biggest Loser tonight? What team are you pulling for? I'm Team Pink!
I missed the episode tonight. But way to go Kate! Keep up the eating healthy and exercising! I have been slacking bad on exercising. Doesn't house cleaning, typing, channel changing and taking care of a 7 month old count?
ReplyDeleteNope, I don't watch it because I don't have cable or anything else that would bring television into our lives. BUT I think it great that it inspires you.
ReplyDeleteI need to drink more water and cut out the snacks too. It would go a long way to helping me not feel so drained.
Keep it up! I can't wait to hear how you feel tomorrow.
Way to go, you!! I love your comment about using soup cans, but then eating one of them...you're the best!
ReplyDeleteIt was on one of the televisions at the gym tonight, so I caught bits of it here and there, but wasn't able to focus on it much. I have always liked the show.
ReplyDeleteAs for me...I'm team Kate!!!
YOU are the one who is amazing. I am such a slouch and I am totally inspired to read about your efforts - GO KATE! I'm on Team Kate too! I love LOVE that you ate your weights. Mmm soup. I'm the a$$ that would totally have used something like tubs of cookie dough and said, "I just at my weight, bah" and not been nearly as adorable for the admission. *Sigh* I love me some Kate - you go girl!
ReplyDeleteI too was really sad for the blue and yellow team.. esp the blue.. that poor lady was trying so hard not to give up..it broke my heart. I couldnt believe how much weight they lost in one week.. unbelievable!!
ReplyDeleteDerek said he would do the shred with me at night.. that is scary.. last time he worked out with me I laughed so hard... well I will just stop there.. that might be a good blog post ;)
Anyways now that I have rambled on I am so proud of you and excited for you girl! You are going to do this and are inspiring me to get busy too!! Good luck on day three! Rock it girl!!
Hugs to u
Hi Kate!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog off twitter. We seem to have a lot of similar blog friends.
I too am a huge biggest loser fan and I am doing the Biggest Loser Cardio & Weights DVD's. I will be doing the weights for the first time today. I expect to hurt tomorrow!
Good luck with the Shred. I read Admanda's "i am mommy" post on the Shred. Sounds like a killer workout.
Good Luck!
Tina
i LOVE the biggest loser!!! Keep up the great work, I'm glad you are feeling better after just 2 days in! Its great you put it in the blog too so you can go back and read how great you are feeling if you hit a bump in the road. You can do it!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing great! I missed The Biggest Loser last night and could kick myself for it. Like the other lovely ladies.. I'm team KATE! =)
ReplyDeleteNow following your delightful blog! :)
ReplyDeleteI did catch pieces of the show, but didn't get to see it all :( I also cry for them. I'm not nearly as heavy as the contestants, but I am only 5ft and considered about 25 pounds overweight. My BIL on the other hand is way more overweight than that. The part where the girl said a guy had never even kissed her broke my heart. Made me and my hubby think of his brother who we know has never had a girlfriend (he's 27)so most likely never kissed a girl either. So anyway! I think it's awesome you already feel better inside and I am so inspired by you. I'm going to go turn the Wii Fit on now!
ReplyDeleteYou are the best girl, THE best!! You are going to rock the house! I only watched the last maybe 30 minutes of the show last night but I am so going to start watching it now...it's sounds like it's great inspiration!
ReplyDeleteSo did you get the weights today? :) The soup comment killed me, you're too cute!
{hugs}
You are awesome, you are going to rock the house!! I only saw the last about 30 minutes but I am SO going to start watching BL...sounds inspiring!
ReplyDeleteDid you gets weights today? You soup can comment killed me, you are too cute!

I'm so proud that even for how sore you were, you still did Day 2. That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteWe watched TBL as a family last night, too. I just love that show. It's SO inspiring. I'm not sure who I'm rooting for yet. So far, I like them all, lol!
I laughed out loud that you ate your "weight." LOL! Too funny.
Love the show and Kate! I am also on team Kate..cause she's the best evah!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the BL! I'm not sure exactly who I'm rooting for. Probably team Orange, since they are from my home state ;)
ReplyDeleteGo you! Your amazing!
