I thought it would be fun to introduce Jordan to the wonderful hobby of baking.
I decided that we would use this recipe for chocolate chip cookies.
I washed her little hands and pulled a chair up to the counter so she could work at her eye level.
She chattered away as we worked together, waving her hands and speaking very excitedly, eyes wide.
She added the ingredients I measured out with such....flair.
And when I say flair I mean messy.
I loved how she'd shout "YAY!" and clap her little hands after each step.
I was so distracted by her total adorableness that I may have incorrectly measured an ingredient.
Flour.
I only added 1 1/4 cups when I should have added 2 1/4 cups.
And I left them in the oven too long.
Oops.
Did I mention I was distracted by her adorableness??
So, this is the disaster that is sitting on my kitchen counter right now.
Not the first baking fail, and certainly not the last.
I won't be firing my little "sous baker" quite yet.
I don't know....that looks pretty good! :)
ReplyDeleteOh adorableness. I bet they're still pretty yummy. And, it's all about the adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteHow cute.. me and J could be baking partners ;) I bet she was the best little bakerista ever!
ReplyDeleteOh my...you are an awesome mama...to have that kind of patience! I agree tho...they still look good!
ReplyDeleteI'd eat 'em, anyway.
I love baking fails! Send them my way while you work on the baking not fail. :)
ReplyDeleteTime spent with your little one is NEVER a colossal fail...in fact, it's an EPIC SUCCESS!
ReplyDeleteGood job Mamma! You make me proud. <3
Well that is pretty funny and cute! I love having my little helpers too!
ReplyDeleteThose cookies actually look kinda good to me. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute that she said "yay" after each step! My little guy does that- super cute. :)
A new recipe: Chocolate chip cookie brittle! Yum! It's all in the journey ;o) When I was younger, I tried to make chocolate chip cookies from the recipe on the back of the chip bag and I read 2-1/4 cups to mean that I needed to add a quarter cup twice. I could not figure out why on earth they didn't write 1/2 a cup if that's what they intended but I was like 12. So we had chocolate chip cookie soup. You're doing better than I was!
ReplyDeleteThey look yummy. Really. I mean.. its just more sugar to taste and less flour getting in the way of the chocolate. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree! Less flour and more sugar/butter ratio: what can possibly be wrong with that! What a fun memory for sweet baby girl, too!
ReplyDeletecooking w/ no flops means you are not cooking enough!!! I have had more flops than I can count, but it's all worth it!!!! (and I would eat those cookies)
