5QF - February 5

Today definitely does not feel like Friday to me.

I spent the day at my Mama's today so she could give me a sewing lesson on my new sewing machine, Sassy Susie.

Yep, she has a name (and a gender, apparently), courtesy of Robin from Lolidots Boutique and Blog. Robin knows about my weird habit of naming all of my belongings, and supplied this one that fits perfectly.

And another big fat thank you to you, Robin! ;-) You always make me smile.

Oh yeah. There she is.

I only got as far as cutting my fabric before we had to stop because we couldn't figure out how to load the bobbin. We watched the DVD a couple of times and Mom read the manual over and over, but it wouldn't work.

My dear blog friend CrayonWrangler from Coloring Outside The Lines called and tried to help. No luck. Thanks anyway, buddy.

Mom is taking it to the Singer store tonight to see if they can show her, so she can show me. I hope they can reattach the presser foot thing that fell off when I was trying to "help". My bad.

More about that another day because today is Mama M's Five Question Friday.

And this week's questions are:

1. What are you most afraid of?

I am most afraid of someone in my family dying or my children being kidnapped. I am also afraid of home invasion and car jacking.

And I'm afraid of leaving this earth without making an impact on someone else's life. I want to know that my time here mattered.

2. Do you use a flat iron or curling iron?

Neither. I style my hair with a blow dryer and a big round brush. I used to use a flat iron but I don't like the way my hair looks when it's that flat.

3. Hands-free or phone to the ear?

Phone to the ear. I can't stand those little ear pieces. Don't they look like cockroaches?? Gross.

4. Do you have a matching bedroom set?

Yes. Ian and I bought a set about 14 years ago, just before we got married: a headboard, dresser, armoire and two night tables. It was what we could afford and Ian negotiated a terrific price for it all. We still have it and it suits us just fine.

5. Do you believe in the paranormal?

Like ghosts? As in, so-and-so-is-dead-but-hasn't-crossed-over kind of ghosts? No. Telepathy? Nope. Psychics? I think that there are some psychics that are real, however I don't believe that their gifts are God-given, and that by visiting them and believing what they say, a person is opening themselves up to evil and darkness.

I believe in angels and demons, and that they are at war all around us, all the time.

If you'd like to play along as well, head on over to Mama M's blog and join in on the fun!

Guess what? My Ian posted his own Five Question Friday answers on his blog. Head on over and check him out ;-)

  4. How cool that your DH has a blog!!! I just stopped over and became a follower. Is that ok??? I guess maybe I should have asked your permission first?

LOVE the sewing machine. My mom died when I was 14, so I never got to learn from her. I'm so excited for you to learn from your mama. How nice of her!

  5. Sassy Susie better get her little butt in gear or I'm going to come up there and show her some real sass! :) I can't wait to start seeing some of your magical creations, woohoo!

I have complete panic attacks at the thought of things happening to my children. I don't know how I will ever let them out of my sight...when they're 25!

Oh, that Sassy Susie! Can't wait to see what wonderfulness comes from her!

Your lunacy has worn off on me as I am now naming my appliances. Names to be revealed soon! And you can rest easy because aside from the considerable impact I'm sure you have on your family and real-life-friends, I'll always remember you fondly as the funny blogger chick who got me to naming my belongings! heehee!

  11. Can't wait to see what you and Sassie Susie cook up! My mom is a wonderful sewer. My hubby bought me a sewing machine when we first got married almost 17 years ago. I've made two quilts. Period. I barely survived that experience. lol If I named mine, perhaps it would be Dusty Debbie???
