End Of Summer

Well, here we are on the very last day of summer vacation.

Boo.

Sam is dreading his return to school. Today he slept until noon trying to soak up his "last day of freedom" as he put it. He's dreading the homework. Tomorrow he enters the sixth grade.

Julie, on the other hand, cannot wait to get back to school. She knows exactly what she's going to wear and how she wants her hair to look. She can't wait to get homework. Tomorrow she will enter the fourth grade.

Life passes much too quickly, doesn't it?

While I feel sad that the summer is over, I'll be glad to get back into some sort of routine again.

Jordan will miss her big brother and sister for sure. I will too. :-(

I need to work on our morning routine this year. It seems as though we were always racing around looking for lost items, and heading out the door late. I don't want another school year like that one!

Do you have a morning routine? What works for you?

  1. I know.. it is so hard to believe that the summer is coming to an end! I am ready for fall but hate to see the carefree lazy days of summer leave.

Hope your sweet kiddos have a great first day of school tomorrow!! I will say a prayer for them that they both have smooth transitions into the school time routine :)

Love ya! Lets us know how its goes.. complete with pics of the first day..please and thank you ;)

  2. Your mornings sound like ours!! I know 99.9% of it is my fault...as, and I know you'll agree here, sleep is vital to me! I sleep until the very last possible second we have...

If only I could muster some will power to get out of bed, even, say, 5 minutes earlier! Oh, the things I could do!

We do have our kids (except our oldest) get their clothes out for school the night before. Just one thing that works for us to save time!

  3. Yes! Without our routine I would be late for work every. single. day. Okay, so I am almost always a few minutes late but it would be far worse :)

Daddy gets up the kids and read the Bible to them. He gets them breakfast and I start their lunches. They are old enough to make a lot of decisions for themselves now so I help prepare the main part of their lunch and they get the snack, drink and fruit and pack it themselves. We then all go our separate ways and get dressed. Hopefully B will not get distracted and find something else to do. If she doesn't all goes well, if she does there is usually some scolding involved. We then pack backs check hair, as in I make sure it is brushed and combed and they brush their teeth. Somewhere in there I eat breakfast and then we head out the door. And it works... as long as B does not get distracted :0)
