Tuesday's Treats ~ Banana Bread

I absolutely love the smell of banana bread baking. It gives such a feeling of warmth and comfort in my home.

Unfortunately, it never lasts for very long in my house!

I've used the same recipe all along and it has never failed me.

And today I'm going to share it with you!

You'll Need:
1/2 butter softened
1 cup of white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups of mashed bananas *I always use three bananas
2 cups of all purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda

To Make:
Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

You could add nuts if you wish, or even chocolate chips for something different.

I never switch it up, I must admit. My crew likes it straight up, and straight up is how they'll get it.

Happy Tuesday!

  3. this is a simpler recipe than the one that's been passed down through my family. do you know if anything needs to be changed for a high altitude recipe? we live in Colorado. I just told my daughter this morning that I was going to make some bannana bread tonight (we are having a heat wave and it's supposed to be 88 today and we don't have A/C in most homes here). my great grandma's calls for soured milk and it just so happens that when you are in the hospital for several days and the milk isn't devoured...it sours. ;)

  6. I made some banana bread a couple of weeks ago and it turned out like crap..I threw most of it away..

I love banana bread though and should have made your recipe with the overly ripe bananas that I threw away yesterday..

    How ripe is too ripe?

Do you ever put peanut butter on yours..so yummy!
